Lidocaine infusions are often used to treat fibromyalgia and neuropathic pain disorders. Infusions are performed intravenously (IV) to calm nerves and provide relief from chronic pain.
A lidocaine/saline mixture is infused by IV into the patient’s body for approximately two hours. The lidocaine works to calm the nerves and provide relief from chronic pain. Lidocaine infusions are usually administered in a series of treatments. Patients can often find relief for up to 1-2 months at a time with the infusions.
